Astm A213 T11 Alloy Steel Seamless Tubes

The T11 alloy is an excellent choice for high temperature service, primarily in boilers, superheaters, and heat exchangers. Generally, due to its creep rupture strength and oxidation resistance, the maximum recommended service temperature for the 1.25% Chromium 0.5% Molybdenum T11 grade is approximately 565 (1050 F). This makes it suitable for applications where material integrity must be maintained under prolonged thermal stress and high pressure.

Welding T11 tubes typically requires preheating to control the cooling rate and prevent hydrogen cracking, often around 150 to 300. Due to its low alloy content, Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) is often mandatory. The T11 grade is generally Normalized and Tempered, requiring tempering at a minimum of 650 to restore ductility, relieve residual stresses, and ensure the material meets its specified mechanical properties for safety.

The core benefit comes from its Chrome Moly (Cr Mo) composition. The Chromium (1.0%−1.5% Cr) significantly enhances the steel's resistance to corrosion and oxidation at elevated temperatures. The Molybdenum (0.44%−0.65% Mo) is crucial for improving creep resistance and tensile strength, especially at high temperatures. Together, these elements ensure the seamless tube maintains structural stability and high pressure rating in demanding boiler and heat exchanger environments.
