Hex Flange Nuts

Hex flange nuts conform to international standards such as ASTM A563 (mechanical properties), DIN 6923 (metric dimensions), and IS 1364 (Indian specifications). These standards define properties like flange diameter, thread pitch, torque values, and material grade. Adhering to these ensures compatibility with standard bolts, reliable locking performance, and consistent strength across industrial installations. Standardization also helps streamline procurement, especially for OEMs and infrastructure projects with tight engineering specifications.

Hex flange nuts differ from standard hex nuts by having a built in flange at the base, which acts like a washer to distribute load over a larger area. This flange reduces surface damage and helps prevent loosening under vibration. Some hex flange nuts also include serrations that grip the mating surface, enhancing resistance to rotation. This eliminates the need for separate washers, saving time in assembly while increasing joint reliability, especially in automated or high volume operations.

There are two main types of hex flange nuts: serrated and non serrated. Serrated flange nuts feature ridges under the flange to bite into the surface, offering greater resistance to loosening under vibration. Non serrated versions provide even load distribution without damaging softer surfaces. Variants also include fine thread, coarse thread, left hand threaded, and locking flange nuts. These options are tailored for specific applications like automotive chassis, structural joints, or vibration prone equipment.
