Cheese Head Screws

Cheese head screws are primarily used in precision assemblies where a cylindrical head and controlled torque application are required. These screws are often installed in counterbored holes, ensuring a clean and secure fit without protrusion. Due to their reliable clamping force and slot depth, they’re preferred in low vibration environments where fastening precision is critical.

Cheese head screws are distinguished by their tall, cylindrical head and deep slotted drive, providing better engagement for hand tools than standard round or pan head screws. Unlike other fasteners, they offer a greater bearing surface under the head, reducing the risk of surface damage and improving load distribution. This makes them especially suitable for applications involving thin materials or soft surfaces. Their design also allows for easy removal and reinstallation, which is valuable in equipment requiring regular access or servicing.

Cheese head screws are available in various materials such as stainless steel grades SS304 and SS316, carbon steel, brass, bronze, aluminum and titanium. The choice of material depends on the mechanical strength, corrosion resistance or electrical conductivity required by the application. While the traditional drive type is a slotted head, other options like Phillips, combination slotted/Phillips or tamper resistant drives can also be provided. This flexibility in material and drive configuration allows them to be used across mechanical, electrical and instrumentation based assemblies.
