Threaded Rod

A threaded rod is a long, straight metal rod that is fully threaded along its length, allowing nuts and washers to be attached anywhere on the rod. Unlike a standard bolt, which has a fixed head and a short threaded section, a threaded rod has no head and can be cut to custom lengths. Threaded rods are ideal for joining materials over long distances, providing adjustable tension, and supporting structures where a bolt may not fit.

For heavy duty or industrial use, high strength grades are recommended. Grade 8.8, 10.9, and 12.9 rods offer excellent tensile strength for structural and mechanical applications, while stainless steel grades 304 and 316 provide corrosion resistance for outdoor, marine, or chemical environments. Choosing the right grade depends on the load requirements, environmental conditions, and safety standards of your project to ensure durability and reliability.

Threaded rods are typically installed by inserting them through aligned holes in the materials being joined and securing both ends with nuts and washers to ensure a tight, stable connection. In construction or anchoring applications, they can be fixed into concrete using epoxy or mechanical anchors, or cast in place before the concrete sets. Proper alignment, torque application, and the use of washers help distribute the load evenly and prevent loosening under vibration or stress.
