Serrated Flange Bolts

Serrated flange bolts are applied when there is any vibration or movement which might occur to loosen the bolts. They suit situations of continuous movement of engines, machines and struts. The flange that is serrated facilitates a grip and keeps the joint stable. These bolts avoid the use of washers and aids in tension. They are most frequently used in mechanical panels, car parts, and support. They allow secure and reliable links.

The big distinction is the serrated edge beneath the flange. Normal flange bolts provide support and can still loosen when used in high movement arrangements. Serrated designs are similar to a secure mechanism. They impose additional friction between the surface and bolt. This renders them more suitable to dynamic systems or heavy load systems.

They can be removed, washed and attached a few times, their use, however, may cause their grip to become weak. There is a probability that the serrated flange wears after applying a continuous cycle of tightening/loosening. Critical joints should better be replaced to achieve maximum holding strength. Should the surface be used up or the screw have lost its grip, replacement should be the order. Reuse is conditioned by the material and the needs of the application.
